Weekly Update from Rich Muny, Vice President
A few weeks ago, I shared the news that the full Illinois Senate passed H. 479, which would license and regulate online poker, online casino-style gaming and daily fantasy sports (DFS) in that state. The measure passed with by strong 42-10 margin.
The issue is now back in the Illinois House, where they are currently in a special session to work on the budget. The state has gone almost three years without a budget, and several industry observers believe there is a chance that iGaming/DFS regulation could be in the mix.
Analysis by Online Poker Report predicts that thirteen to fifteen entities would apply for iGaming licenses in Illinois. A combination of license fees and tax revenue means that Illinois iGaming could produce nearly $300 million for the state of Illinois.
If you reside in Illinois, please be sure to send your elected representatives a prefilled, editable letter in support of online poker (IL residents only).
Please take a moment to send prefilled, editable poker tweets to four Illinois state lawmakers and Illinois House Republicans:

New York Update
Last week, I shared the news that the New York Senate passed legislation to license online poker. Unfortunately, the Assembly adjourned this year’s session on Wednesday without taking up their version of an iPoker bill.
I thank everyone who advocated for our game in the Empire State. It helped us get very close in 2017 while giving poker good momentum for the fight there in 2018.
