On Wednesday October 28th the Deseret News ran an article “ Chaffetz fears bill on gambling” which highlighted the Congressman’s fears about current federal legislation that seeks to license and regulate online gaming in the United States. Unfortunately, Congressman Chaffetz’ rhetoric does not match reality. Only sensible regulation, like the bills proposed in the House and Senate, can truly protect Utah residents. The current attempt at a prohibition is totally misguided and it does nothing to limit underage access or help problem gamblers. Further, the proposed laws would NOT undermine Utah’s relation with Indian Tribes and their ability to offer gaming. Instead of fearing these proposals, Congressman Chaffetz should embrace them as the only reasonable public policy solution. Congressman Chaffetz needs to hear from you today. Please call his Provo office, 1-801-851-2500 and tell him:
- You are a constituent, a voter and a proud poker player
- That you support H.R. 2267 and S. 1597
- These bills do not allow for Indian casinos in Utah
- That regulated and licensing online games of skill like poker is the best consumer protection
After your call, click here to let us know how the call went. This is important for tracking calls to Members of Congress.
If you have a Twitter account you can also send him a Tweet: http://twitter.com/jasoninthehouse Protect your poker rights by contacting Congressman Chaffetz today! We will update you on this situation as information becomes available to us. All In, Poker Players Alliance
