Weekly Update from Rich Muny, VP of Player Relations
PPA Director of Grassroots & External Affairs Drew Lesofski, PPA FL State Director Donna Blevins, and I went to Tampa and Fort Lauderdale last week to meet with poker players and enthusiasts at the PPA Florida Town Halls. The events were fantastic, as we had a terrific, detailed discussion on all that PPA is doing and why, along with great feedback from the attendees on PPA’s efforts. I thank the attendees who took time out of their day to meet with us! I also thank Donna for her excellent support and volunteerism and Drew for all his efforts for poker.
Drew and me discussing HR 2366, the Online Poker Act
 Drew and Donna
I am excited about this Saturday’s town hall meeting in greater Cincinnati. As the venue (the Cincinnati Marriott at RiverCenter in Covington, KY) is mere minutes from my home, I look forward to sharing specifics on local concerns with everyone in attendance. If you are in the area, please be sure to attend. You will not want to miss it!
In other news, after nearly eight months, the Obama administration responded to PPA’s We the People petition to license online poker. Deputy Director of the National Economic Council Brian Deese issued a four-paragraph response on the issue (read the response here). I believe the response to be excellent for us in that it affirms the December Justice Department statement on the scope of the Wire Act as limited to wagers on sporting events or contests – and not poker. Needless to say, that is certainly welcome news! I thank everyone who took the time to sign the petition. For more, please check out the article here.
PPA at the WSOP®
PPA is excited to announce that we will once again be attending the World Series of Poker for the largest gathering of poker players worldwide. To meet with poker players and enthusiasts, industry members, and politicians helpful to our cause, PPA has designated three weekends to attend the WSOP®. PPA will be staffing a booth in the main hallway in the Rio Convention Center, outside the Pavilion and Amazon rooms, during the weekends of 6/15-6/17, 6/29-7/1 and 7/7-7/9 (the opening days of the Main Event). Please come by the booth to talk about the latest in the push for online poker legislation, find out what you can do to get more involved, renew your membership, and pick up a PPA patch to show everyone at the WSOP® that you are proud to advocate for our rights as poker players and enthusiasts!
Make sure to check the PPA Facebook and Twitter pages on those dates to learn about what we will be doing at the WSOP® and to see cool photos and our take on all that is going on at the WSOP®
