A Las Vegas casino developer is now leading the campaign to change state law to allow a casino to be built in Oxford County.

The Olympia Group, an investor in real estate and casino resorts in Nevada, is taking over the campaign from Seth T. Carey, the Rumford lawyer who led the initiative drive to put the issue on the Nov. 4 ballot but ran into trouble with the Maine Bar Association over ethics complaints. The arrival of a Las Vegas developer brings new energy and money to a campaign that so far has failed to generate much momentum or attention.
