[MI] The Jackson Citizen Patriot – Group goes all-in with new card room (07/10/08)

July 11th, 2008

excerpt:

It’s getting easier to play poker for a good cause in Jackson.

A card room run by Charity Poker Solutions opens today at Hot Rods, 1715 W. Michigan Ave.

Charity Poker Solutions, owned by Patrick O’Dowd, Jason Fuller and Tomas Cobb, plans to host Texas hold ‘em tournaments four days a week on behalf of charities and nonprofit organizations.

“It’s a great opportunity for Jackson charities to boost their fundraising,” O’Dowd said. “Poker is absolutely going crazy right now.”

O’Dowd said charities may apply for a state license to conduct poker tournaments as fundraisers, but obtaining the license, scheduling the tournaments and running them can be tough.
