Former Kansas Citian Blair Hinkle made World Series of Poker history last weekend by winning a tournament gold bracelet just 11 days after his brother, Grant, won a similar sanctioned event, also at the Rio in Las Vegas.
They become the first siblings in the 39-year history of the World Series to win bracelets in the same year.
Blair Hinkle, 22, who now lives in Columbia, beat a field of 1,344 players in the $2,000 No Limit Hold ’Em competition to claim the gold bracelet and $507,563.
“Winning the same year as Grant means probably more than just winning it,” said Blair Hinkle. “We’re setting a record together, and he’s the one that really got me going in poker.
