Do not know the odds for these 2 guys, a jury trial in magistrate court, lets hope they win!

From page 2 of the Article:

Poker is not a game of chance as described by the state statute, Knopp said.

"It's a game of skill," he said. "You have to manipulate the hand."

After Knopp requested a jury trial Wednesday, Blair set his bail at $300 and released him on his own recognizance.

If found guilty in magistrate court, Knopp will face a $300 fine and about $400 in court costs.

  2. Poker is a game that combines skill and chance. The debatable issue is how much is skill and how much is chance.

On any 1 given hand, chance plays a large part. A novice player dealt a straight flush has a "pretty good" chance of beating a seasoned pro. However, the more hands you play the more skill comes into play.

This is why in cash games, over a period of time, the better more skilled players win more consistently. Conversely, we have all seen tournaments where the "pro" walks away shaking his head after being eliminated by a novice who made what would be considered a "questionable" play.

This is why tournaments are played over periods of time not simply 1 hand.

The everlasting argument has and always will be the percentage of skill vs. chance.
